OpenAI Ă— NVIDIA: The 10-Gigawatt Bet On AI Factories
OpenAI and NVIDIA have inked a plan to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems, representing millions of GPUs, to train and serve OpenAI’s next generation of models. NVIDIA will invest up to $100B in OpenAI as each gigawatt comes online, with the first 1 GW scheduled for H2 2026 on NVIDIA’s new Vera Rubin platform (NVIDIA newsroom, NVIDIA blog).
Here’s what stands out:
Phased capital: Funding flows per gigawatt, de-risking giant lump-sum bets.
Separate lanes: This sits alongside OpenAI’s Stargate project with Oracle/SoftBank (now ~7 GW planned) (Reuters, Wired).
Scale reality: Ten gigawatts is grid-scale—equivalent to ~10 nuclear reactors or multiple Hoover Dams.
The bigger picture: This is the largest disclosed compute build by any Western AI lab. It signals that the AI race is less about clever architectures and more about megawatts + megafabs. With xAI’s Colossus 2 already online at gigawatt scale and Google/Amazon ramping their own chips, the competition shifts from “who has the best model?” to “who can actually build and power the cluster?”
🔮 Prediction: 2026–2028 will be the era of power-constrained AI. The winners vertically integrate site + power + silicon + software, and product rollouts will be gated by megawatts, not papers.

AI Partnership
Microsoft × OpenAI: The “We’re Still Together” MOU
Microsoft and OpenAI issued a joint MOU affirming the next phase of their partnership (Microsoft blog, OpenAI blog).
Azure remains central, but OpenAI is clearly portfolio-optimizing compute across Azure, Oracle/Stargate, and now NVIDIA-run systems.
NVIDIA is also teaming with Intel in a $5B deal to fuse CPU + GPU roadmaps and widen packaging supply.
Takeaway: Coopetition is now the model. Microsoft gets early access, NVIDIA gets demand lock-in, and OpenAI gets options.

NotebookLM Adds Audio “Brief,” “Critique,” and “Debate”
Google’s NotebookLM just added new Audio Overview formats beyond the default “Deep Dive” (9to5Google, TechRadar).
Brief: 1–2 minute executive recap.
Critique: Hosts analyze and red-team your draft.
Debate: Pro/con sparring to surface blind spots.
🎧 Imagine turning your pitch deck into a “Debate” to hear objections before the boardroom. NotebookLM is morphing from study tool into AI rehearsal studio.

Turn Dense PDFs into Slides & Sheets
Claude now creates and edits PowerPoints, Excel sheets, Word docs, and PDFs directly in chat (Max/Team/Enterprise today; Pro rolling out). Just toggle Settings → Features → “Upgraded file creation and analysis” (Anthropic post).
How to use it:
Upload a PDF → “Make a 12-slide deck with 3 takeaways per section.”
Follow up → “Build an Excel summary tab with key stats and a separate sources tab.”
Package → “Export the deck + sheet as a zip.”
💡 Pro tip: This is a game-changer for fast client updates, class deliverables, or investor decks—without hopping tools.
