OpenAI launched a new Apps SDK and first-party integrations so you can call services right in the chat—create a Spotify playlist, design in Canva, edit diagrams in Figma, browse Zillow, plan trips with Expedia/Coursera, etc. No copy-paste. No context loss. Just “@App do X,” then interact with live results.

What’s live and what’s coming

• Live now: Spotify, Canva, Figma, Zillow, Expedia, Coursera (U.S.; some regional limits)

• Coming soon: Uber, DoorDash, Instacart, OpenTable, Tripadvisor, Target, Peloton—plus a submission funnel and monetization for developers later in 2025.

Why it matters

Build agents like you build flows. AgentKit is OpenAI’s new canvas for designing multi-step, multi-tool agents with guardrails, evaluations, MCP connectors, and an embeddable ChatKit UI. Think of it as a native alternative to Make/Zapier-style orchestration, but optimized for OpenAI models and agent UX out of the box.

Key building blocks

• Visual workflow nodes with branching (if/else), file search, and safety guardrails baked in.

• Connect anything via MCP (e.g., Gmail, Calendar, HubSpot, Shopify)—or add your own server.

Caveats (for now)
